Memorial Institute St.Joseph Ciney

There is a memorial plaque on the facade of the St. Joseph Institute:

"As memory
to the Brothers of the Christian Schools,
the members of the staff
and the students of the St. Joseph Institute
who gave their lives
that we might be free.
1914 – 1918
1940 – 1945
Let's not forget"

The Catholic Congregation of the Brothers of the Christian Schools was founded in 1680 in Reims by the priest Jean-Baptiste de la Salle (1651-1719 - canonized in 1900). The congregation is involved in education worldwide.
