Bunker IR 9 Chênée

This bunker is no longer visible. It's still there, but the occupant has re-plastered his house and the bunker, so the bunker is no longer recognizable.

The left part of the block is the bunker.

On old 'googlemap' versions, the bunker is still recognizable.

This is an intervention bunker, similar to bunker IR 10 located nearby. The bunker is part of the 3rd defense line for the city of Liège, la Position Fortifiée de Liège, PFL 3.

This type of bunker was intended to slow down advancing troops. Probably on the first floor was a 47 mm antitank gun (gun openings are no longer visible due to the new plaster). On the top floor was a machine gun and a searchlight.
