These small brass plaques (Stolpersteine or Stumbling Stones), which were laid on April 19, 2023 commemorate:

born October 4, 1888, arrested February 13, 1944, murdered March 6, 1944 in Auschwitz
Jacob (Jaap) de Jong
born February 6, 1915 escaped to Switzerland and survived
Henriette Levitus
born June 16, 1920 escaped to Switzerland and survived
Yvonne Levitus
born September 3, 1928, went into hiding and survived

"Stolpersteine" is an art project in Europe by Gunter Demnig to commemorate victims of National Socialism (Nazism).
Stolpersteine (Stumbling Stones) are small, 10x10cm brass plaques placed in the sidewalk in front of a residence of (mostly Jewish) victims murdered by the Nazis. Each plaque is engraved with the victim's name, date of birth and place (usually a Concentration Camp) and date of death. In this way, Gunter Demnig gives an individual memorial to each victim. One stone, one name, one person. He quotes the Talmud: "A person is forgotten only when his or her name is forgotten."

Borne was the first place in the Netherlands where Stolpersteine were laid. This happened on 29-11-2007
