Memorial Deceased Friends CJMV Sloten

A plaque in memory of the friends of the CJMV (Christelijke Jongemannen Vereniging) in Sloten who died in World War II hangs in the Sloterkerk:

Arie Oudshoorn
born 22 August 1920, killed 27 February 1942

Jan Kars
born 20 April 1919, killed in action 20 October 1944

Arie Oudshoorn was killed on the Hr. Ms. Java in the Java Sea. Jan Kars was active in the resistance in Zeeuws Vlaanderen and died during a shelling while trying to reach the Allies to warn that a farm full of refugees was in the front area.
