Memorial Executed Rác Street

This memorial commemorates the 12 men who were shot here by the Russians.
On March 22, 1945 Russian troops reached Székesfehérvár and 3 soldiers went looking for Germans. In one of the houses down the street they broke in and demanded wine and then they wanted to assault a young woman. However, the men in the house protected her and 2 Russians died of their wounds. The third who had fled returned in the evening with more Russian soldiers. All the men on the street were rounded up, with some executed in front of house number 25 and the rest shot in front of number 19.
