This monument commemorates the Treaty of Trainon, which formally ended the First World War between the Kingdom of Hungary and the Allies.
It was signed on June 4, 1920 at the Grand Trainon Palace in Versailles and regulated Hungary's borders, with Hungary retaining only 28% of its total pre-war area. Furthermore, it also regulated the size of the Hungarian army.
