Historically, Brasov was a place where the German order was established in the thirteenth century. This created a place where many German-speaking people settled in later times.
During the Second World War, many German-speaking people from the region were forced or not to fight in the German Army and died in the process.
After the Second World War, many German-speaking people were also deported.
This monument, which is located on the left of the Lutheran church of Saint Bartolomeu, commemorates all victims.
The following text (translated) is printed on the front:
"Remember the Dead
of war and deportation
1940-1950
bells from home
how do you sound so beautiful
continues to sound, continues to penetrate over valleys and heights
Kind regards to the loved ones who found their final rest in foreign lands
Even though they are dead in a strange place, they live on in our love"
The sides list the names of the people who died from the region.
