This memorial commemorates the fallen Romanian Soldiers who died here near the old train station on October 10, 1916 as well as all other units that fought in the Battle of Brasov in 1916.
Captain Cristescu Sava and half a company of the 24th Infantry Regiment covered the retreat of the rest of the division and positioned themselves along the railway near the Bartolomeu Station in Brasov. During the battle, some German soldiers from the 189th regiment managed to sneak past the Romanian soldiers and positioned 2 machine guns 5 meters behind the Romanian trench, after which they slaughtered the 168 Romanian soldiers within a few minutes.
