Memorial Navy SEAL Danny Dietz

In Littleton there is a monument that commemorates Danny Dietz.
Danny Dietz was a SEAL who was awarded the Navy Cross along with the Purple Heart for his actions in Afghanistan.
Danny Dietz was killed during the Operation Red Wings mission in Afghanistan, where of the 4 man team only Marcus Luttrel survived, the other members died alone, as well as the 8 SEAL members of the Quick Reaction Force and the crew of 8 on board the Chinook of the 160th SOAR Army Night Stalkers.
This mission was made into a film based on the book by Marcus Luttrel "Lone survivor : the eyewitness account of Operation Redwing and the lost heroes of SEAL Team 10"
Danny was born in Aurora, CO and grew up in Littleton, CO
