Memorial Michel Van Hamme Assebroek

A rectangular bronze relief plate with a bevelled edge, a work by Karel Laloo, hangs on a small terraced house.
It shows a portrait bust surrounded by a laurel wreath to which a medal is attached with the image of a long-haired young woman.
In the upper left corner there is a bird with a triangular badge with a skull in its beak, on the right an oak branch with a badge of the Secret Army.

Below that is the text:
"In honour of
Michel Van Hamme
fallen for the
Fatherland in Beernem
September 7, 1944,
From the Secret Army
Shock group Lt.Jerome"

The inauguration took place on April 4, 1948. As a tribute to this resistance fighter, the street was named after him in 1944
