Belgian War Grave Leignon

The grave of David DELREE is located in the cemetery of Leignon.
He was a resistance fighter who died for his country in the Second World War.
After his arrest, he was hanged at the Château de Villenfagne, in Sorinnes-Dinant,
on September 6, 1944.
A street was named after him in Dinant.

David Delree was a member of the Secret Army, Zone 5, Sector 5, Group A
Group "A" of Sector 5 Zone V was about the only one that had an effective military organization based on motorization under the forest occupation.
This group "lived" and "functioned" as an organized fighting unit, campaigning in the forests of Condroz and the Ardennes during the hundred days before the Liberation.
His special organization focused on its own action formula that covered all areas of resistance activity, from the distribution of leaflets in German to deliberate fighting. Thanks to the motorization, they sometimes worked simultaneously at different points 50 km apart.
