Roadblock Bunker Visé 2 (Vi 2)

Le barrage du câble Vi 2 I from 1933-34. The cable barrier in front of bunker Vi2.

These cast iron posts served as roadblocks. They were located at 25 meters and 100 meters from a bunker. In this case, this is the barrage at 25 m. This and the more distant "barrage du câble" of 100 m. are the last two remaining posts of this bunker.

A steel cable could be stretched between the posts, preventing traffic to past the section. At the time of World War II, these were not only cars but also horse and carriage.

The posts are numbered and coded. This pole is coded as Vi2 I, indicating that it belongs to the nearby bunker Vi 2 of the Visé sector from line 'le Position Fortifiée de Liège' PFL 3. The pole is firmly anchored in a concrete foundation, where two other attachment points are present.

Remarkably, the pole differs from the other poles. This one appears to be missing the "head." Yet it has the attachment hole for the cable. Presumably this is an on-site modified "barage. Incidentally, it is also odd to note that the mantle is steel and the inside is concrete.

The pole across the road no longer exists.
