In 1920, Mr Kittel had this war memorial erected on the shore of Lake Rheinsberg in memory of his two sons killed in World War I. Two other fallen soldiers from Linow were also immortalised on the monument.
Unfortunately, time has taken its toll on this stone witness to history and it seems no one is interested in preserving the monument. To get permission to build the monument, Kittel had to have the village street paved with stones. Parts of this paving can still be seen today. The war memorial was designed by Prof Felix Pfeifer.
