Stumbling Stone Mittelstraße 17

This memorial stone (so called Stolperstein of stumbling block) commemorates:
Arthur Haim (born 1907, His fair never got clear)
Frieda Haim (born 1897, Escaped to the USA)
Ernestine Braun (born 1880, Murdered in Riga)
Hanna Braun (born 1923, Deported to Riga. Liberated by the russians in Stutthof in 1944.
Alfred Braun (born 1915, Murderd in Riga)
Georg Braun (born 1913, in 1935 escaped to Holland after that to the USA)
Bella Braun (BORN 1910, in 1933 Escape to Holland then brought to Westerbork. Murdered in 1942 in Auschwitz)
Ada Braun (born 1909, in 1933 went to Berlijn then escaped to Belgium (1933) and with help survived)
Gustav Braun (born 1880, Murdered in 1933)

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted or murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
