Fort at Vreeswijk - Artillery Shed

Fort Vreeswijk is part of the New Dutch Waterline and was created as a fortress in 1567. The Fort was rebuilt in the period 1786-1787 and further expanded in 1820 and in 1852-1853 into a mainly earthen defense structure. The buildings are not covered with earth. The most important function of the fort was the defense of the locks at Vreeswijk. During the mobilization period of 1940, the fort was manned by the 29th infantry regiment.

This wooden artillery shed was built in 1885.
