In the old cemetery around the St. Margaretha Church there is a slender square column, with a copper top edge with engraved texts.
The translated inscriptions:
" 1939 to 1944 - in the cemetery around the church were buried 33 domestic and foreign civilian employees, forced laborers and prisoners of war, all of whom died in the construction of power plants. Let us remember them in prayer"
During the Second World War, around 1.5 million prisoners of war were deployed in Kaprun to build cable cars and the Kaprun Hochgebirgstauseen dam.
