At the foot of Kerpen Castle, against the rising castle wall, stands the Gothic-style Burgkapelle Sankt Sebastian on a small plateau just above the village center. Via stairs you reach the small church square with a modest war memorial
for the victims of WWI and WWII.
The memorial plaque on the left has an engraving at the top of an angel next to a fallen soldier. Below that "Medenket unserer Teuren Krieger".
In 2 columns each contains 8 names of victims of the First World War with dates of birth and death.
In the center is a white stone relief of a tied suffering figure.
The memorial plaque on the right shows the names per war year of the "Gefallen – Vermisst – Zivil Tote" of the Second World War.
