Memorial J.P. Douzou Huningue

On the banks of the Rhine is a memorial to French Lieutenant Jean Pierre Douzou (born 23-1-1919 in Millau Fr.) who died at this site on 30 November 1944 during the liberation of Alsace.

The text on the memorial reads in English:

"Here
A French officer
S.Lt. J.P. Douzou
was killed in combat
for the liberation of Alsace
November 30 1944"

Special feature: the website of the French Ministère des Armées gives the date of death as 3 November 1944. However, given the course of the war in Alsace, 30 November is likely.
