War Memorial Reichenau

Reichenau is a monastery island in Germany, located in Lake Constance.
The island has approximately 5,000 inhabitants.
There are three villages on the island: Ünterzell, Niederzell and Mittenzell
Since 2000, the island of Reichenau has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Next to the city office in Mittenzell is a monument to the First World War.
It is a stone sculpture on a pedestal, depicting a soldier, a woman and 2 children.
The inscription on the pedestal reads:
"Fought for the homeland
Fallen like heroes"

In addition, there are memorial plaques on the wall with the 69 names and dates of death of those who died in the First World War (renovated in 2005).
