Breda's De Bieberg cemetery contains the grave of Polish war veteran Aleksander Bronowski, born 16-12-1914, died 19-4-1990.
Aleksander Bronowski was part of the First Polish Armoured Division responsible for the liberation of Breda in October 1944.
After the war, he stayed in Breda and was active within the Polish community in Breda, including as chairman of the Breda Cultural Association "Polonia". This consisted mainly of soldiers who had made the choice not to return to the now communist Poland. For his work, he was made an Honorary Citizen of Breda and decorated with the Order of Orange-Nassau in 1980.
