The defense lines of the city of Liege, known as "La Posistion Fortifiée de Liège" consisted of 4 defense lines built around the city of Liège. It consisted of 16 forts with numerous linebunkers in between.
In addition to these linebunkers, there were also so-called 'Position Avancées', advanced positions. These were located at Beusdael, Bilstain, Dolhain, Goé, Grunhaut, Henri-Chapelle, Hèvremont, Hockai, Hombourg, Jalhay, Limbourg, Malmedy and Stavelot.
Stavelot is the last and most southbound town covered by "La Posistion Fortifiée de Liège.
In this town there are a number of advanced bunkers that fall under 'La position
avancée'. A total of 7 bunkers, A through G. Of these bunkers, 4 were located along the little river Amblève, A,B,C en G.
The bunker is located on the bank of the Amblève on the south side of the town. The bunker has been partially covered with soil over the years. As a result, the entrance is no longer visible. The bunker guarded together with bunker B, the southeast side of Stavelot on a shallow and fordable section of the Amblève River.
They are small bunkers (2.5 x 2.5 m) that were used as observation and protection bunkers. They were equipped with a machine gun. The holes above the gun opening served for ventilation purposes.
