Krauss-Maffei Wegmann Munich

The factory at this location was opened in 1933 by the Krauss-Maffei company. The companies, which until then mainly built locomotives, railway wagons and trucks, were increasingly used for the development of military products.

In 1938, Krauss-Maffei's production facilities in Munich-Hirschau were abandoned and the Munich-Allach location was further expanded. During World War II, Krauss-Maffei used thousands of concentration camp inmates and prisoners of war for forced labor. At that time, both companies grew into leading arms manufacturers of the German Empire.

By the end of World War II, the company had made more than 6,000 military vehicles for the Third Reich. In the autumn of 1945 the last 30 vehicles went to the British army.
