Memorial Hodister

There is a memorial plaque for Albert PHILIPPE in the entrance of the Saint-Brice church.

"For his God
For his king
1940
Albert PHILIPPE
has fallen on the field of honor
on May 20 in Ghent"

He was sergeant 2nd Ardennes Hunters 2nd Bat 6th Comp
On May 19, hit twice by a bullet, he continued to operate his machine gun during his retreat from the Dender to Lede. Upon arrival in Lede, he was taken to a Ghent hospital where he died the next day from his injuries.
