Fortress Eben-Emael - Block VI

On the right side of the main entrance, Block I, of Fort Eben-Emael is defensive Block VI.

This bunker is built in two floors and has two 60 mm F.R.C. antitank guns, a machine gun and a searchlight. On the first floor were the two guns, on the 1st floor the searchlight and machine gun. F.R.C. refers to the builder of the cannons, la Fonderie Royal des Canons.

Also, the bunker contained a small observation turret.

At first sight, it looks like in the left gunport there is another cannon. However, it is the same gun as on the right, only on the left gun the outer cover is gone.

The bunker continued to resist the attacks of the German attackers until the surrender of the fort. In contrast to the other bunkers, bloc VI was thus not put out of action.
