The tank barrier at Leuvensdijk in Groessen was built during the mobilisation of the Netherlands in 1939. Because of the threat of war, barricades and defences were erected at all sorts of strategic locations.
The tank barrier is an example of a defence work from the first half of the 20th century built by-or commissioned by-the Dutch Army. The barricade consists of eastbound vertical rails (so-called asparagus) cast in concrete.
An information board on site explains the purpose and history of the barricade.
