Joseph CARRIAUX was a victim of war.
Henri DE RADZITZKY, soldier fallen on the field of honor at Sandfort.
On October 2, 1944, he was killed during the fighting by a bullet in the head while he was a sentry in an advanced post.
René DOCQUIER, resistance fighter, died for the Fatherland.
Albert HENRY, Gendarmerie Brigade of Ixelles, died for the Fatherland in Moorsele.

Verdenne suffered a lot during the Battle of the Ardennes
In December 1944 the village was severely destroyed.
On December 24, 1944, German troops took Verdenne. On Christmas Eve, the Americans counterattacked and, after heavy fighting, occupied the village, which changed hands several times amid heavy fighting. On the evening of December 26, Verdenne was finally liberated by American soldiers.
In these battles, 2,000 American and German soldiers were killed in this area.
Part of the village was rebuilt in 1945, the damaged St. Hubertus Chapel was restored. A street in the village was named "Rue Noël 1944".
