The Winter War Museum presents the period of the Finnish-Russian Winter War (11/30/1939 – 3/13/1940) in Kuhmo. The exhibition provides an impression of the daily life of Finnish and Soviet soldiers. Civil issues are also strongly discussed. The exhibition is divided into themes such as evacuation, village center, front line, maintenance, medical care, battles and life after the war.
There is also a miniature model of the Luelahti encirclement and models of two Soviet aircraft.
The Winter War Museum, owned by the city of Kuhmo, presents artifacts, photographs, scale models and sound effects to illustrate what the Winter War in Kuhmo was all about. In the museum you will learn more about the lives of evacuated civilians and the experiences of Finnish and Soviet soldiers.
