This grey granite memorial commemorates those who worked to preserve the Polish identity of Gdansk (Danzig) between The Massacre of Danzig in 1308 and the end of World War II in 1945 when German Danzig was ceded to Poland.
The relief decorations on the sides depict, among other things, The Massacre of Danzig in 1308, the Thirteen Years' War and World War II.
There are several inscriptions on the statue including:
"In memory of the Poles of Danzig (Gdańsk) who died for the Polish identity of Danzig ( Gdańsk) in German prisons, concentration camps and other places of bloodshed in 1939-1945"
"To those who fought for the Polish identity of Danzig (Gdansk)"
