About 1,000 Soviet soldiers are buried in the Ezere cemetery.
In the centre is a memorial stone that reads "In eternal memory of those who died for the fatherland". To the left is another smaller stone on which only the Soviet flag and star are still visible.
On both sides of the memorial stones are eight plaques with the names of the fallen.
Heavy fighting took place in this region at the end of the war as part of the Battle of Courland (Kurzeme in Latvian). In early May, the Germans signed the capitulation in Ezere.
