Stumbling Stone Resistance Woman Louisa Poels Turnhout

This small brass plaque (Stolpersteine or trip-stones) laid here on 12-5-2024 commemorates: Louisa Poels.

Louisa Poels joined the Armed Partisans the armed arm of the Independence Front a left-wing resistance group during World War II. She is arrested on July 15, 1944 and is deported to Ravensbrück. Later, she goes to the Belzig outpost camp near Bad Belzig.
On May 3, 1940, she is liberated.

Louisa Poels dies in Turnhout on December 10, 1973.
