Varsseveld General Cemetery contains several Dutch war graves:
- Oswald Reinhold Wilhelm Assmann (resistance fighter) 9 May 1887 / 2 March 1945
During a raid on Assmannn's house on February 20, 1945, Oswald Reinhold Wilhelm Assmann and Jan de Vries were arrested after the discovery of stencilled bulletins and material to produce them. Together with 44 others, they were shot on a plot of the farm of the Kraaijenbrink family in Varsseveld as a reprisal for the liquidation of four German soldiers. Their names are on monuments at the Rademakersbroek and the Prinses Irenestraat in Varsseveld.
- Gerrit Johan Brusse (resistance fighter)
Born on June 21, 1922 in Varsseveld. Died on August 18, 1945 in Lichtenvoorde.
Diseases and weakened from hardships, suffered in concentration camps in Germany.
- Jan Dukel (civilian victim), from Varsseveld, died on March 29, 1945.
Jan Dukel was forced to work at the Todt. He was on his way from Etten to Varsseveld when he was hit by an English shell on 29 March 1945 near Rabelinkstraat. Jan Dukel was 26 years old.
- Dirk Beers, Corporal with the 3-II-26 R.I., he was killed on May 10, 1940 in Katwijk.
'Distinguished himself for courageous conduct against the enemy in the battle at Mook on May 10, 1940, by voluntarily making himself available to fetch an officer of health, covering a distance of 400 yards round trip under heavy enemy artillery fire . Then fell with five others defending the river casemate south.
- Josiena Dedrica Anna Tenkink
Josiena Dedrica Anna Tenkink is standing outside with a number of people watching planes come over. They do not realize that the attack will take place in their vicinity. The planes drop a number of splinter bombs, killing 25-year-old Josiena Dedrica Anna Tenkink.
- Riki, Gertje Kobes and Wimken Reimes
Died in Sinderen, Thursday 22 February 1945.
- Derkje Kerkhof, Derk and Berendina Braak
On March 23, 1945 in the evening between half past nine and half past ten, about eleven bombs were dropped on Westendorp. The house of E. Kerkhof was hit and the two-year-old daughter Derkje Adolfine was killed.
The house of B.J. van Braak was hit. The son Derk, aged 15, and the daughter Berendina Catharina, aged 11, were killed.
