The Fort Drum Prisoner Of War (POW) Cemetery is the smallest of all 40 U.S. Army Cemeteries across the nation. It contains the remains of seven World War II era POW's. The Italian and German POW's interred in the grounds were originally housed at nearby Pine Camp between 1943 and 1944. The over 2,500 POWs housed at the camp worked on farms and other projects throughout the area as part of the POW workforce. By 10 May 1946 all POWs had left the area and the cemetery has been maintained ever since.
