Air War Museum World War II Geraardsbergen

In 2019, Wings of Memory opened its own museum in the vacant farm of the former Hunnegem monastery site in Geraardsbergen.

Wings of Memory consists of a group of enthusiastic people interested in air war.
The members felt that more efforts were needed to keep the memory of the dramatic war years alive and to preserve them for the future.
People wish more attention was paid to the fallen crews and their families.

Since 1997, various members have carried out recoveries of WWII war planes that crashed in Belgium, and WOM has already completed 27 recoveries.
The team also tries to find relatives of fallen crews
and has the support of various veterans associations at home and abroad

Wings Of Memory has already erected several monuments for fallen aircraft in the Geraardsbergen region.
Finally, they also participate in commemoration ceremonies and ensure that the necessary honor is paid to the fallen crews on Remembrance Day.

The museum mainly exhibits artifacts and parts of aircraft excavated in the region. The exhibition space now contains remains of the Messerschmitt Bf 110 G-4 (crash May 13, 1944 in Herne), Halifax LW682 OW-M (May 13, 1944 in Schendelbeke), Mustang P-51C WD-G (May 31, 1944 in Zandbergen). , etc.
The exhibited parts are provided with clear information signs.
With the further expansion of the museum, large parts will also have a place.

The museum works with volunteers, it is best to look up opening hours on www.wingsofmemory.be
