Draka Memorial New Noorder Cemetery

Draka wire and cable factory was located on Hamerstraat from 1910 to 2016. The factory took good care of its employees during the German occupation. Draka also provided false papers, so that a hundred designated employees managed to avoid work in Germany. Seventeen Drakians died during the war. Immediately after the liberation, a monument was erected for them on the factory grounds. All seventeen names are listed on the monument.
