Schloss Drachenburg - Adolf Hitler School

Under the Nazi regime, Drachenburg Castle, at that time a boarding school, was sold to the Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF). The castle hereafter became the temporary quarters of the Adolf Hitler School, as the new building in Waldbröl was delayed. Classes began in 1943 after a renovation. Drachenburg Castle came under fire in 1945, so anti-aircraft guns were placed on the grounds.

The Adolf Hitler school served as a training site for the future leadership elite. They were part of the Hitlerjugend. Training ran from school year 7 to 12, after which one progressed to a higher level (Ordensburg).
