Battleground Flirey

The Germans retained fortified positions until September 1918. In 1915, the French managed to gain 700 metres of ground here. This at the cost of 1,500 soldiers and officers killed. The area contains many battle scars, including mine craters from the dozens of explosions by French and German mines.
