Dutch East Indies Memorial Boskoop

Next to the war memorial in Boskoop, a memorial stone was placed in 2002 in memory of the soldiers from Boskoop who died during the Indonesian War of Independence between 1945 and 1949.

The text on the plaque affixed to the stone reads:

'THEY STAYED BEHIND
J. STOLKER - PADANG † 30-11-1946
G.B. FIANEN - PALEMBANG † 04-04-1948
A. DE ROOIJ - DJOKJAKARTA † 29-12-1948
D. DE BRUIJN - DJOMBANG † 07-02-1949
L. VAN WILGEN - KEBOEMEN † 01-03-1949.'

The unveiling of this "Indies" monument took place on 31 August by mayor C. Rijsdijk and next of kin Mr A.P. Fianen.
