Belgian War Graves Villers-Saint-Siméon

Buried in the cemetery of Juprelle (Villers-Sainit-Siméon) are 3 soldiers from both World Wars.

TASSON Louis, age 38, soldier with the engineers, died of pneumonia (probably due to the pandemic Spanish Flu) on November 1st, 1918 at Calais (F).

LATET Joseph, age 28, died in 1940, no details known.

VANCKAN Joseph, age 26, soldier in the 14th Line Regiment, according to official records went missing at Sint-Joris (Nieuwpoort) on October 24th, 1914 and unknown where he was buried. However, he is buried in this cemetery in his hometown. (The location was passed on to the Belgian Ministry of Defense)

(After the war years, the records were not always conclusive. Relatives could choose whether their deceased loved one would be buried in a military cemetery or in his hometown. In some cases, records were lost.)

Also located there is a monument (erected 1994) of the prisoners of war during World War II to their missing comrades.
