On 4 October 1944, a US Lockheed P38 made an emergency landing at this site. The aircraft had been hit by anti-aircraft fire and was unable to reach its base at Florennes. The pilot Robert W. (Bob) Blandin was able to leave the aircraft in one piece. Fortunately, Venhorst was already liberated by then and Bob Blandin was soon taken care of by British soldiers who were nearby.
An information board at the crash site commemorates this event.
