Memorial USS Salem

On September 29 1918, 18 members of the crew of USS Salem drowned in Key West Harbour. The Salem, a scout cruiser, had just returned from convoy escort duties and the crew were returning to the ship on a liberty boat when it was swamped and overturned by a wave.
