Watan Mukaddesligi Museum

The Watan Mukaddesligi Museum is part of the huge The Halk Hakydasy Memorial Complex.

This modern museum covers three important periods and events in Turkmenistan's history:

The Battle of Geok Tepe between 1879 and 1881 in which the Turks were defeated during the Russian conquest of Central Asia, and Turkmenistan became part of the Russian Empire.
World War II when the country became part of the Soviet Union and the Turkmen fought in the Red Army.
The massive earthquake that claimed around 110,000 lives in 1948.
