Memorial Liberation Augsburg

The memorial plaque at the site of the capitulation was unveiled on April 28, 2010 on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Augsburg.

„On April 28, 1945, at this location,
the 3rd American Infantry Division
liberated with the help of
the Augsburg Liberation Movement
the city from the Nazi regime.
Thanks to the peaceful surrender,
the city of Augsburg
was spared from further destruction.

May this event remain in our memory."
