Memorial Field Artillery Regiment König Augsburg

At the Basilica of St. Ulrich and Afra in Augsburg there is a memorial with a statue of Ste. Barbara and below it a memorial plaque for the Royal Bavarian 4th Field Artillery Regiment "König". It was dedicated on December 5, 1959 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of this regiment.
It is a reminder of the fallen and missing of the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71 and the two world wars.

The statue of Saint Barbara was made by Jakob Rudolph.
This saint is counted among the fourteen helpers in need, she is also said to protect against sudden death. Based on her life story, Saint Barbara is the patron saint of dangerous professions, including artillerymen, infantrymen, deminers, and also prisoners...
