Crash Site Lancaster II LL622 KO-J 115 Sqn

On 31 March 1944, the Lancaster II LL622 with the code "KO-J" from 115 Squadron took off from Witchford for a mission to Nuremberg, Germany. Tragically, it was shot down by a night fighter and crashed in Braine-l’Alleud. The Lancaster LL622 was one of the 94 bombers lost during that particular operation, which remains the largest loss of Bomber Command.
The crew members who lost their lives were :
Flight Sergeant Ronald Thomas,
Flight Sergeant Dennis Atkinson,
Sergeant Robert F. Taylor,
Sergeant James H. Kensett,
Sergeant Frank Hawksworth,
Sergeant Peter Jack
Sergeant Harry Kendrick
