Loophole Newton Blossomville

At the corner of Newton Road and Hardmead Road, there is still a World War 2 loophole in a wall.

A plaque on the wall reads:
"This loophole was made in 1940 for use by members of the Home Guard in case of invasion by Hitler's armies."
8 May 1995.

The Home Guard was the British defence force made up of young and elderly volunteers who could not become service in the armed forces because of their age or disability.
They received basic training and were usually led by retired army officers or non-commissioned officers.
