M4A4 Sherman Tank Trois-Rivières

This tank is standing in front of the Trois-Rivières Armoury in Trois-Rivières as a memorial to the killed soldiers of the 12th Canadian Armoured Regiment. The tank is a M4A4 Sherman, armed with a OQF 17 pdr barrel. This type of barrels were only used on Sherman Firefly's and not on the American M4. It is not clear why this barrel is mounted on this M4A4.
