Amstenrade Castle

The high-ranking NSB member Max de Marchant et d'Ansembourg lived in this 18th century castle. He was allowed to serve the post-war sentence of 15 years in prison for high treason in his castle.

Max de Marchant et d'Ansembourg was NSB faction leader in the House of Representatives and Commissioner of the Province of Limburg during the German occupation of the Netherlands. He died in 1975.

The castle was used by German troops in May 1940 as a resting place during their advance further into the Netherlands.
