The Walking Tour of the Ardennes Hunters in Bodange - Panel 2

Translation of the main text on the information panel:

The bridge is blown
The Ardennes Hunters have been established in the region since mid-March 1940. They have prepared all bridges over the Sūre and important intersections for demolition. In Bodange three minefields are in place on locations where the enemy could bypass the destructions. In addition, tree fellings are being prepared in Tintange.
At 2:15 am the warning order is given to blow the bridges in Bodange over the Sūre and the Basseille (on the road to Wisembach).
At 4 o'clock the orders are given to blow them. The bridges in the valley from Martelange will explode in succession. The bridge over the Sūre in Bodange is destroyed in the morning, as soon as the advanced elements from Tintange and Warnach retreated over them.
At 11:15 am the last elements of Martelange's 4th company cross the bridge over the Basseille. The bridge is then blown.
The Sūre valley is under fire from higher positions in the village.
Later, once Bodange has been occupied, the Germans have to build a wooden bridge across the road for the passage of their vehicles.
