Cycling Route Maashees - Execution Place Pastor Janssen

On Sunday, October 18, 2015, attention was paid in Maashees and Vierlingsbeek to a piece of history in which these villages were very involved, namely the summary execution of Pastor Jansen from Vierlingsbeek on October 11, 1944 on the Geijsterseweg.
Fellow villager Jan Cremers found the remains of the Vierlingsbeek pastor 28 years later in 1972 during excavation work.
At this location (10 m before the entrance to café restaurant "de Watervogel") a memorial plaque was blessed by Pastor van der Sluis on Sunday, October 18, 2015, at 12 noon. Beforehand there was a Eucharist celebration in Vierlingsbeek.
The memorial plaque was an initiative of relatives of Pastor Jansen.
An information board has also been placed near the memorial plaque.
