On August 27, 1942, a British Vickers Wellington bomber crashed in the Crimea near Elsendorp.
At the end of the Heikop there is a monument with a plaque commemorating the crash of this British bomber in which the six-man crew
was killed.
From junction 11, about 1 kilometer outside the route, on the Mayor Wijtvlietlaan, there is a monument in tribute to the crashed planes in Gemert-Bakel and to Mayor Wijtvliet who died in a concentration camp. The inscription reads: 'A tribute to all who gave us Freedom'.
